Dental sealants are a thin white or transparent acrylic coating. Children typically receive sealants once their permanent teeth erupt; however, depending on your child’s needs, our dentist may also recommend sealants for their baby teeth. To receive a sealant, make an appointment with our office. We are open seven days a week and offer extended hours to accommodate your family’s schedule. During the appointment, we will thoroughly clean and prepare the tooth. Our dentist will apply the coating on the enamel and cure it using a special light. This will ensure a durable and permanent bond. Once the sealant fully hardens, you will be able to eat, drink, and brush normally.

How Long Do Sealants Last?
Dental sealants can protect your teeth from cavities for up to ten years. If your child receives sealants on their baby teeth, their sealants will need to be applied to their permanent chewing teeth. Though durable, your sealants will eventually begin to chip and wear down over time. You will need to have them reapplied. Be sure to schedule regular checkups every six months to make sure your sealants are in good shape.
